Notice of Forth & Clyde
Canal Dredging Work

British Waterways have advised that they require to carry out some dredging work, to remove navigation hazards. The work will take place between locks 19 and 20 and will take around 1 week, starting on 20th September. No work will take place at the weekend

The dredging will be done by floating plant with the discharge point for the silt being at castlcary bridge. The dredger will try to clear the high spot at the aqueduct then search for other high points throughout the pound therefore it will not be a full dredging operation.

The project manager has been advised by LCAPS to ensure that the contractor monitors the oxygen levels at regular intervals throughout the operation and will stop the dredging if dissolved oxygen drops to levels that will cause problems for fish.
